DANTE’S INFERNO has been kicking around the cultural playground for over 700 years. But it has never before been interpreted with exquisitely hand-drawn paper puppets, brought to life using purely hand-made special effects. Until now. Rediscover this literary classic, retold in a kind of apocalyptic graphic novel meets Victorian-era toy theater. Dante’s Hell is brought to lurid 3-dimensional, high-definition life in a darkly comedic travelogue of the underworld — set against an all-too-familiar urban backdrop of used car lots, gated communities, strip malls, and the U.S. Capitol. And populated with a contemporary cast of reprobates, including famous — and infamous — politicians, presidents, popes, pimps. And the Prince of Darkness himself.

So, Dante's Inferno will most likely have its U.S. release late this summer. Sorry, it can't be sooner. We have to prepare the supplementary materials, record commentaries, etc. More official news will follow as things are nailed down. It's been a long time coming. Thanks for the patience of all you Dante/puppet fanatics. If you want to be notified when the film is released, sign up for our mailing list.

Finishing perticulars for a DVD release, but it'll still be some months before it's released. No screenings until we figure out the DVD release date. A few things on the horizon: Santa Monica Museum of Art's "Puppet" exhibit; the 2008 Toy Theatre Festival; Paul Zaloom at the Center for Puppetry Arts.

Happy New Year! This is the first time since the film's premiere that we have no screenings scheduled. Dante had a terrific run on the festival circuit in 2007. Oh, wait, there are screenings... Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival in April for one. And others will announce down the line. But in general we're slowing down over the next couple months as we plot a strategy for Dante's Inferno to be the biggest toy theatre DVD release in history.
